PAC-MAN 256+ is quite possibly the best 'modern' take on an arcade legend. It takes the frantic energy of the original and marries it perfectly with the 'one more turn' loop of an endless runner. The pixel art is vibrant, and the sound design captures that nostalgic 8-bit magic perfectly.
What really sets it apart is the power-up system. Choosing your loadout adds a tactical layer that keeps the game fresh for hours. It’s easy to pick up but difficult to master, especially as the speed ramps up. It’s a must-have for anyone who likes chasing high scores or just wants a perfect time-waster for their commute.
Dinsun here. This is how you modernize a classic. PAC-MAN 256 takes the core DNA of the original and turns it into a compelling endless runner. The 'glitch' mechanic adds a sense of urgency that was missing from the static mazes. The power-ups like lasers and tornadoes are genuinely fun to use and add a tactical layer to the ghost-dodging.
My only complaint is that the swipe controls can be finicky, especially on the isometric grid—I often find myself going left when I meant to go up. But when it works, it’s magic. The Apple Arcade version is the definitive way to play, as you don't have to wait for 'credits' to play another round. It’s simple, addictive, and looks great with all the different themes. A solid 8-out-of-10.
Performance: Stable; some input lag reported on older iPad models.
Buy if: You love Pac-Man and want a modern, faster-paced version.

Developed by the creators of Crossy Road, PAC-MAN 256+ takes the classic 1980s formula and turns it into an endless isometric runner. Players must navigate a never-ending maze while being pursued by 'The Glitch'—a wall of corrupt data inspired by the original game's level 256 bug. With over 20 ridiculous power-ups like lasers and tornadoes, this version adds layers of strategy and high-score chasing to the beloved franchise.

Equip power-ups that complement your playstyle. The Laser is great for clearing paths, while the Slow-Mo can save you in tight corners.
