Fish In A Watch is an impressive technical feat that turns your Apple Watch into a tiny, living ecosystem. The concept of 'eat or be eaten' is a gaming classic, but adapting it to the digital crown of a watch is a stroke of genius. It feels tactile and responsive, making it one of the few games on the platform that actually feels 'made' for a wearable.

That said, the gameplay is extremely basic. On an iPhone, it feels underwhelming compared to other arcade titles, but as a 'secret' game to play on your wrist during a boring meeting, it's perfect. The visuals are simple but clear enough for the small screen. It’s a niche title, but for Apple Watch owners looking for a fun way to use their crown, it’s a delightful little distraction.

Dinsun Review

Dinsun here. Gaming on a watch is already a compromised experience, and this app proves why. It’s essentially a very limited screensaver that you have to occasionally tap. The 'pet' mechanics are non-existent, and the novelty of having a fish on your wrist disappears as soon as you realize it doesn't actually do anything. It drains your watch battery and offers nothing in return but a few pixelated sprites. It’s a curiosity, not a game. I’d rather check the time.

Eat or be eaten as you play as a fish stuck inside an Apple Watch (or an iPhone)!

The Apple Watch game works best for Apple Watch Series 4 and up. Works OK on Series 3.

Steer your fish fin by turning the Apple Watch crown back and forth. Or swipe on your phone.

Avoid being eaten by bigger fish and get bigger by eating smaller fish. And there might just be a jellyfish or two lurking in the deep.

Requires iOS 12.1 and watchOS 5.1 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
