I’ve seen plenty of horse sims come and go, and Horse Life is just more of the same. The graphics are decent for mobile, and the horse animations are fairly realistic, which I assume is the main draw for its target audience. But as a gamer, I find the actual 'game' part to be incredibly shallow. It’s mostly just clicking through menus and waiting for timers to finish so you can feed or train your horse again.
The 'bonding' mechanics are a joke—just a series of repetitive minigames. And of course, if you want the best breeds or faster training, you have to shell out for premium currency. It’s a transparent gacha game disguised as a peaceful ranch simulator. For a man my age who values substantive gameplay over virtual collections, there’s just not enough here to keep me interested. It’s repetitive, grindy, and ultimately hollow.
