I have been playing a long time.....
Tue Jun 02 2020 TexassewsI agree with other players that whomever changed the game, and made it harder to advance, ruined the game for me. I have been playing this ever since it was selected for the iPhone. I have loved it and played it for hours on end. I know when something has changed. Also the bot cheats, as others have said. I will look over and there are plenty of tiles left, and I am beating the bot. Next thing I know, the bot wins. When you changed the difficulty of the game, I have gone down 6 or 7 levels. If your purpose was to see that people have a very hard time of just advancing, you have succeeded. If has ruined the game for me though. Sorry. You lost a long-time fan.
Good game but has annoying quirks
Thu Apr 03 2025 deltamind106The game is generally fun, but there are quirks that should be easy to fix, but have lingered for years. First, the game sometimes lags/stutters when you play. It’s random. It usually plays fine but sometimes it lags/stutters to the point where it’s unplayable. I have to just close the app and wait a couple hours, and then it works again. (Immediately reopening the app after closing it does not fix the lag/stutter). The other problem is the scrambles in scramble mode. Once you get to high levels, the scrambles become the determining factor as to whether or not you beat the tile bot. I know when the board is first presented whether or not I’m going to beat the tile bot with 90% accuracy. The games is not fun like this. What needs to happen is the game should keep track of your history for scrambles, and it should present you with puzzles that you historically have almost won but lost, or just barely won. This keeps it challenging. Instead what happens is you get an easy puzzle and you win easily. Then you get an impossible puzzle and barely get started before tile bot finishes. And it just becomes a frustrating exercise in waiting for a random string of easier puzzles.
Very exciting at first but now disappointed
Sat Jan 26 2019 surferrt1299When I first started playing this game about a month ago it started out great. Now that I’ve gotten up to the higher levels I find that the little guy I’m challenging goes really fast at times. We can be running about even and then the next second he’s done. Plus when I tap on my squares at times it won’t register so here I think I got it and then I look back and the two tiles have not left. This was the only game I was playing, I was hooked but now I find I have extra time to play my other Mahjong games because I am no longer hooked on either on these games. So I have been reading all of these reviews and I have noticed most of then are from 2 years or older except for one and now this one. Sure wish you all would fix this, I would be willing to pay for this game if it ran right.
A game without ads or endless subscription costs
Mon Sep 23 2024 Williams_dlIf you don’t want to spend your life watching cheesy ads for an endless stream of knockoff games, or paying endless subscription fees so you don’t have see the ads, then this game is for you. You buy it, and you play it, period. It’s a refreshing change from what the rest of the App Store has become.
The tile matching play is as good as any other game, and better than some. The 3-D layout is (usually) fun, and adds interest to game play. For those of us who just want to relax, the non-timed, non-competitive gameplay modes are a blessing.
For me, this game was worth the price.
Great game but...
Fri May 26 2017 LefCoasDaveSo it's a year after my review below, and the speed problem is both better AND worse. The super speedy robot opponent doesn't play all as often as it used to, BUT when it does, you, human, have no chance. 50 or 60 pieces in the game at the start, and as soon as you've made your very first play, the robot finishes the game. That's not fun! BAH! Is anybody listening???? 😡

As other reviewers have stated, this is a fun game. The change to losing only one level if you don't win was a good one, BUT the random speed of the tilebot, often ridiculously excessive, can be pretty frustrating. On a recent game, I completed about four or five moves with perhaps 40 tiles still on the board, when that &@""!#% tilebot won. Perhaps there should be more consistency in the speed of the 'bot, AND the user could select a max speed on a slider from 0 to 100.
Fun game but...
Tue May 24 2016 What's the use?First this complaint: tell me the nickname is taken BEFORE I write the review. It disappears, and you have to start all over again. The game is terrific. Very enjoyable. However, I agree with those who have complained about the speed of the tile bot in the updated version. Some of the layouts that I could almost always win before are virtually impossible to get now. I enjoy a challenge, but not an unreasonable one. The more layouts that seem to be impossible to beat, the less likely that people will play the game.
Update: still playing this game, but not as much as before the latest update. The speed of the tile bot is still unreasonably fast. Sometimes the tilebot's tiles seem to disappear in an instant, even if you're close to winning. Very frustrating.
This app has ruined all other Mahjong games for me
Sat May 02 2020 NiknquinI love, love, love this app! I’ve been playing it for years and I love the scramble mode, (something I have yet to see in any other app). What minor issues I’ve had have been resolved with each update. I’ve tried other Mahjong apps just to switch things up, but always end up deleting them and coming back to this one. And it’s free with no ads! One feature I would like to see in the future is some way to mark specific layouts as favorites so they come up more often in scramble mode. Some of my favorite, more challenging layouts don’t come up often enough. Thank you for this app!
7-Star Game in a 5-Star World!
Mon Mar 06 2023 ^^WeWatch^^UPDATE March 2023 Still the best game! Offloaded for a while but playing it again.
UPDATE November 2015 Still the best game out there! Great big thank you to the developer for offering genuine improvements based on the suggestions of players! (Instead of screwing it up the way so many others do.) Still challenging without being stressful. Addictive & Fun! (Dec 2013) This a great game. Lots of different tile layouts, can be very challenging. Liked the free version well enough to buy it just to have a tiny bit more space on the tiny iPhone screen. Congrats to the designer, this is a real winner!
Some Games are not Winnable
Sat Jan 11 2025 Deb_MII have been playing this game for years. I enjoy it and while I am not overly concerned about “winning”, the game would be much more enjoyable if it was at least possible to win the games. I don’t know how the timing is determined or why the bot goes faster on some games than others, but there are some games that are not possible to win, no matter how fast you are. What is the purpose of that? I have also noticed, as others have said, that the bot can be inconsistent, where all of a sudden the bot finishes although there were 20-30 pieces left. These factors make the game frustrating and certainly less enjoyable for the average player.
Not the same anymore!
Mon Mar 06 2017 RosDel777Been playing this game for a long time and have always enjoyed it. However, with the last update, I've been playing for weeks and simply can't progress, have in fact gone 15 levels down - your robot both cheats at times and is also way too fast now - especially with larger layouts or layouts where you need to move it around to see hidden tiles. It's not a challenge anymore, just ridiculous! It's such a disappointment that you won't address these issues as experienced by many other players too. Used to be my all time favorite game - not so much now. Maybe you could integrate an easy, intermediary and advanced setting against the robot - each allowing more time respectively. Please listen to your customers and make this game great again?!
