Kairosoft has a magical way of making management sims feel both deep and incredibly cozy, and Ninja Village is one of their absolute best. You start by managing a small hidden village, but the game quickly expands into a grand quest to unify Japan during the Sengoku period. It’s a dual-layered experience: half city-builder and half tactical-battler.

Designing your village is addictive, as you try to optimize the placement of shops and houses to maximize income. But the real fun comes from training your ninjas and equipping them with gear to take on rival clans in massive, automated battles. The pixel art is charming, the humor is lighthearted, and the 'just one more turn' loop is stronger here than almost anywhere else. It is a fantastic entry point for the genre.

Dinsun Review

Kairosoft is one of the few mobile devs I actually respect. They found a formula that works and they stick to it. Ninja Village is one of their best. The dual-loop system—building your economy during peace and leading your army in war—is expertly balanced. It’s got that 'just five more minutes' hook that very few games manage. It’s not particularly difficult once you understand the unit matchups, but the satisfaction of seeing your tiny village grow into a powerhouse is immense. The UI is a bit cramped on smaller phones, and it hasn't changed much in years, but the core design is rock solid. It’s a proper game, not a storefront.

As their fearless leader, you'll need to train your fellow ninjas in the ways of modern 16th-century warfare--including the use of those newfangled matchlock guns! Assign them to infantry, cavalry, and other units to form an army fit for a shogun!
Of course, war is costly in more ways than one. Between battles, your followers will raise funds by producing food, handicrafts, and other goods to sell to passing travellers.
Arm your ninjas with the best gear, training, and skills and lead them to victory in the struggle for unification! You may even meet some of the era's greatest generals along the way...
