I love this game. Definitely one of my favorites. Frogs are actually my favorite animal so to have a cute little game like this is awesome. I’ve been playing off an on for half my life I’d say.. re downloaded the game couple years ago. I did lose all my stuff because back then I believe I linked it with my old Facebook account but anyway it’s fine.. so I bought the VIP package where when you level up your suppose to get two habitats each time you level up. I just leveled up to 6 and I did not receive two new habitats. I bought one for 7,300 coins but I should’ve had the two. I have screenshots too, it shows me I purchased the VIP and you can tell I just leveled up and I don’t have new habitats. Going to update the game and try turning my phone off and on. Little annoyed that I paid money for this game and I’m not getting whats in the fine print. Hopefully it’ll work once I do that but another thing I don’t like about this game is how hard it is to level up or get money.. let alone the cost of some things. All the cool frogs are higher levels. I see frogs in the frog mart that are super cool but I have to be level 26 or level 30 whatever.. legendary frogs look awesome but I feel like I won’t be able to experience them, I’ve been playing for two years now, it’s so hard to level up and I’m only level 6. I don’t want the game to be too easy but I feel like it’s way too hard to level up.
The best part about this app is the humbleness. Im so sick and tired of all the apps on the store now BOMBARDING ME with 2 ads ever minute! This game is so fun and addicting, and cute too! And the only ads you get are CHOSEN to be watched, AND you get prizes for each ad you watch. Thats just so generous and nice. I seriously love collecting frogs. I do think maybe more mini-games that require more input from the player may be nice. The frog search game is legit random, so i never do it as Ive never been able to win. The race game is fine but you dont do anything but maybe give the frog a potion. The puzzle game is the best by far, and I think more games along that line would really improve the game. Id play those while waiting for the eggs to hatch. I love this game for the fact that it doesnt run my data dry when im out and want to play. So many apps require connection just to get on it. Very annoying. Overall, for a FREE app that has VERY minimal ads, this game is so well made and really caters to its audience. The game features I mentioned are just a nitpick, and I understand that since the game has rarely any ads, the developers dont make much from it. However, the community for this app is actually quite dedication and large. And I think maybe even adding an ad before a minigame could be ok as long as its not ridiculous. Anyways, love this game!
I am a lover of frogs, they are my favorite animal. This game looked to good to be true on the AppStore, But it’s not. There are mini games, a pond, all kinds of awesome frogs, it even somewhat has the live cycle of a frog, but what if it had the life cycle of a frog that took the same time as it does for a baby frog to grow into an adult, potions would still work but it would be so cool. Another thing is what if you had a storage space and it cost coins to put stuff in it because it is really annoying to find a really cool frog in a gift from the pond and then your mailbox is full of habitat backgrounds that you can’t use because you don’t have enough habitats. My final ideas are about the frogs. What if they had a personality or you could pet them? What if there was a mini game that was like a salon or hat shop so that you could customize your frogs even more? What if alongside the frogs that we breed and make, there were species of frogs like the cane toad or the tricolor poison dart frog that you would keep in the frog box, a place that you would customize to be a fitting habitat for that species? All these things aren’t needed for this to be a good game, but the game would benefit from them. Or at least I think so.
I’ve been playing Pocket Frogs since iPhone III was brand new. There’s just something very soothing and relaxing about tiny frogs that come in so many colors, and the challenges of finding the exact pattern and color combination you want. When I upgraded from iPhone 6s to 8, the data transfer service from Apple corrupted a bunch of save data from various games. Apple store says that happens, and there was nothing they could do. I was devastated, I’ve had these froggies for over a decade! I reached out to Nimblebit support as a long shot, and to my surprise they were helpful and responsive. I found an old backup save on an old computer of mine, restored it to an iPhone, and they helped me get my save data back! Now my frogs are happily living on my iPhone 12, and Nimblebit has coded their own cloud syncing service into their game so I never have to worry about losing them to Apple’s errors again. Pocket Frogs has come a long ways in the past decade! You would be hard pressed to find developers who care more about their game than this crew. They went out of their way to help me, and did not have to — I’m deeply appreciative and won’t forget it. :)
I had this game years ago. Got so far and had so many frogs, I believe I had every breed. Got bored with it and deleted it. Saw it again recently. Decided to try it again. However since I’m on a different device now I had to start all over. Which is fine. It gives me a chance to fall back in love with it. Only had it a few days so far and I’m already almost at level 8. The game itself is still pretty good. But one thing I’m getting tired of is the screen freezing in the gift freebies screen where you watch videos and advertisements for free stuff. After starting a video or ad, it only gets a few seconds into it and the screen freezes. Only way to fix it is force stopping it by backing out, then clearing your recent pages so the game has to load all over again. But lately not even that is fixing the problem. I’ve even tried powering my device off and back on but it’s still doing it. That needs to be addressed. I also like that although you can pay real money for things, you’re not forced to. And your progress doesn’t halt or become impossible unless real money is spent. My best advice, be patient and enjoy the game. If you’re not patient and want everything right away sure you can dump a ton of money into it. But why 🤷🏻♂️
I really enjoy Pocket Frogs; the progression gets a little slow with the expenses required to add new habitats, but breeding and discovering new frogs continually brings me back. The advertising experience can also be easily disabled, a rarity in today’s mobile games. The back breaker for me, though, is that the general UI feels like pulling teeth. Most of the menus in the game force you all the way out when trying to only go back one level. Frogs and lily pads in the pond also frequently lie beneath UI elements or within the notch of my phone where the inner camera is, making it frustrating to tap where you want. Breeding frogs is made even more difficult by the fact that they need to be in the same habitat. This doesn’t add any additional challenge to the game; it just makes it take longer to do what I want as I have to shift several frogs around to make space where I need it. Compounding this with the trouble that selecting individual frogs gives me makes habitat and breeding management an absolute nightmare. It would not take much for me to make this a five star review. I understand that this game is a classic nearly as old as the App Store itself, but if the developers are still giving this game any attention, there are several small UI improvements that would easily make this game a truly timeless work of art.
What’s great about this game is that I remember playing it on the first gen iPod Touch, and it was my favorite. There was a point where grinding XP to level up was very time consuming, but I guess that’s half the fun; looking back to how far you’ve progressed. It was friendly towards anyone who played it. No skill gaps or pay to win. Began anew last night after many years, and I’m already at Frog Rarity 5, with 4 habitats plus the nursery. Still a nostalgic classic. No emphasis on paying to progress like many games, or pressure on the brain involving strategy or extra skill. Simple and fun. Breed frogs, sell rarer varieties for gold, unlock new cosmetics, and play mini games. Looks like they’ve added new breeds, new decor, and a new mini game since I’ve played. No ridiculous, constant, game-changing updates, battle passes, DLC, or premium junk (i.e. selling out). Same old classic blast from the past, that was kept an original all these years. Also the game is very generous with giving the player premium currency (potions and stamps) from gifts at the pond. Almost all games squeeze money out of you for premium in-game currency. Giving a 4 star rating, only because I don’t like giving 5 stars, due to the fact nothing is perfect. Nice job with the game. Love it!
This is an absolutely amazing game. I LOVE frogs, they are my favorite animal, and I am so glad I came across this game- I didn’t even know about this, and I was just looking for a cool game on App Store when I found it. I have been playing this for about 3 years, and I love how there are so many levels and you can take care of all your frogs, and breed them to get more. Also, nothing is timed, and it is slow and relaxing to play. Even though I am a kid (way more mature, and way less crazy then an average kid), I highly recommend this for adults and seniors who love a slow, relaxing, game to play. I also love that there are no ads interrupting the game, and ads are not required to play the game, they just give you prizes for watching them. I like how in app purchases are also not required to play the game. I hope if you are reading this review because you are considering downloading this game, you find it helpful, and you enjoy playing this game as much as me. Pocket Frogs is an awesome game, and I am so glad I downloaded it. 💚🐸💚🐸💚🐸💚🐸💚🐸💚🐸💚🐸💚🐸💚🐸💚🐸💚
I have loved this game since my first iPod. This would been around 2011. My only real problems are it takes a very long time to level up past level 12 (months at this point, even playing every day), and sometimes when breeding different breeds of frogs I can’t get the frog I need because it’s replaced with a glass frog which isn’t either of the frogs I’m trying to breed. It happens pretty frequently and doesn’t go away for a couple of days at least. I’ve loved this game for years and I rlly appreciate the lack of ads which is almost impossible to find these days, but please please fix the glass frog bug and provide more xp opportunities. Also I think adding more awards could help with xp and make the game more interesting as it does get a little repetitive. This is the best game in the App Store and there is clearly a lot of care and thought put into it over so many years and im so grateful to have seen it grow better and better. Anyone who doesn’t have this game yet absolutely needs it.
I just downloaded the game after I last played in 2012... now it won’t let me click past the first pop up verifying that my age is at least 16. I’m 22. I have no patience; please let me have my childhood back. Until then, 1 star. EDIT: I had to delete it and redownload like twice and then it actually let me play. And I love the bits of nostalgia I get from playing. I love that I can go about the game without a rush to complete tasks, makes it very easy going and the different breeds is enough incentive to continue playing as well. My favorite is going to the pond and making my frogs happy and getting prizes along the way. One thing I noticed from other reviews was that the puzzle game was gone for a bit? I’m glad it’s not now. However if I’m not mistake, wasn’t there a Frog Request function where a certain frog genus and species would be requested and you could get extra points for supplying the demand? I wish that were still in the game, I liked going out of my way to breed frogs to fit the request. Other than that, I’m so happy I have this game in my phone again lol
