Softris is what happens when you take the rigid logic of Tetris and melt it into a bowl of jelly. It’s a physics-based puzzle game where the pieces are soft and squishy, meaning they don't just 'fit'—they compress and slide over one another. This single change turns a classic formula into a hilarious and often frustrating exercise in spatial management. You aren't just clearing lines; you're trying to prevent a wobbly collapse.
The game is visually delightful, with the 'jello' physics rendered perfectly. It’s surprisingly difficult to plan ahead because a heavy piece can displace the ones below it. While it lacks the high-speed intensity of competitive Tetris, it replaces it with a 'stressful-yet-relaxing' vibe that is perfect for casual play. It’s a great example of how a simple mechanical twist can breathe entirely new life into a decades-old concept.

Softris is an innovative puzzle game that reimagines traditional block-matching mechanics with a soft-body physics engine. Instead of rigid blocks that lock into place, Softris features squishy, jelly-like shapes that deform and slide. Players must drop and stack these wobbly pieces to form horizontal lines. Because the blocks can compress and shift, players must account for weight and balance to prevent their stack from toppling over. Experience a tactile and unpredictable puzzle challenge with vibrant colors and satisfying physics.
Advanced soft-body physics simulation
Unique 'wobbly' take on classic gameplay
Vibrant colors and satisfying visual feedback
Multiple modes including Zen and Challenge
Use heavier pieces to compress gaps in your bottom layers. If you have an uneven stack, a large block can often 'force' its way in and help you stabilize the base.
Lines in Softris don't need to be perfectly straight, but they do need to be fully saturated from left to right. Once a dense enough layer is formed, it will dissolve and lower the stack.
The standard mode is untimed, allowing you to carefully plan your drops, though the 'Classic' mode increases drop speed over time.
