Teacup is what the younger crowd calls a 'cozy' game. As a man who grew up with games that actually tested your reflexes, I find this trend toward 'no-fail' experiences a bit soft. You walk around as a frog, talk to some locals, and solve very basic puzzles to get tea ingredients. There's no tension here. It’s well-made for what it is—the hand-drawn art style is legitimately impressive—but it lacks the staying power of a true classic.
The narrative is paper-thin. You need tea; you find tea. It’s functional, but I’ve read grocery lists with more dramatic stakes. That said, it’s a peaceful way to kill an hour or two if you’re tired of modern shooters, though for the price, you aren't getting much content. It’s more of an interactive picture book than a game in the traditional sense. It's fine, but don't expect it to change your life.
