Wytchwood is easily one of the most visually striking games on the platform. The art style is impeccable—it feels like walking through a dark, illustrated Grimm's fairy tale. The narrative is equally sharp, with a dry, cynical wit that fits the 'grumpy old witch' protagonist perfectly. I enjoyed the way the game subverts classic tropes, turning every quest into a lesson in hubris for the NPCs. It’s refreshing to play a character who isn't a wide-eyed hero for once.
However, the core gameplay loop is almost entirely made of fetch quests. You need A to make B to get C, and you'll be doing a lot of walking back and forth to get it. While the world is beautiful, the backtracking can become tedious after the first few hours. The crafting is intuitive, and the puzzles are logical, but don't expect deep combat or complex mechanics. It's a game about gathering and observation. If you can stomach the repetitive nature of the tasks, the story and art will carry you to the end. It's a high-quality production that just needs a bit more variety in its interaction.
