★★★★★ Controls are more difficult than they need to be

The visuals and gameplay are great and encapsulating, and I don’t mind the learning as you go aspect. The mechanics behind moving your character are difficult to deal with however. Moving alone I have had issues getting the game to pick up that I’m trying to move the character (you’re supposed to hold down and move the character in a similar way of a joystick). At one point there’s a doom character that you’re supposed to run from, after a small segment of the game showing you the character dropping down behind you. Having to retap the screen to get your character moving is just as futile as trying to hold your finger down throughout the momentary pause to try and run away as soon as the gameplay resumes. I’ve tried many times, and have died each time without any success of advancing in the game yet. :(

The game crashes at the point where he spells split then stop. If you don’t get the trap to stop at a certain spot you can move on and I tried pushing the word back and start again and then the game crashes but I figured something out. If you destroy the word stop in the light and retype it and push it to get the trap to stop open it doesn’t crash and you can move on. I tried this many times and finally got the trap to stop just right and was able to move on without the games crashing. I really enjoy this game and don’t find games like this often. If the games crashes try to find away around it.

I initially downloaded because I liked the visuals. I enjoyed the gameplay and stayed for the powerful message within the story. The game is interesting on so many levels. The heart-pounding thrill from situations where it required you to think fast to survive the evil creatures. The mysterious muse that was there just in time to motivate and protect the hero. And the realistic theme that words have only the power that we give them. So be careful how you use them! Overall, it’s a fully rounded game and I would encourage anyone to play it.

★★★★★ Beautiful visuals and sound, unique idea, some gameplay issues

This game has beautiful visual design and audio. The environment feels immersive and dynamic. It’s clear the game team put a lot of focus on that with great success. The idea is also unique and interesting. The gameplay was generally fine, although sometimes a bit clumsy. There are sometimes moves that are difficult with how the movement is programmed. Not all game mechanisms are clearly explained, so sometimes you’re expected to do things that you don’t even know you can do. There were a few moments where it was unclear what I needed to accomplish at all. The game is also pretty short - I’d guess 2-3 hours of gameplay total - and doesn’t have strong replay value, so it’s debatable if the $7 price is justified from that perspective. Overall, I enjoyed the game. The price is a little easier to accept if you consider it more like playable art rather than a game and it’s good to support indie studios. I’ll look forward to seeing what else the studio does.

★★★★★ Controls too fiddly for the price

This game is smart and fun and generally awesome. But the controls are not great, and too many weird things happen, so the bugs aren’t all ironed out. The screen froze with Typoman pushing SA, running legs but unable to do anything. I got stuck inside a word I was pushing, unable to get out. I lose the move button at weird times even though my finger is on it, and then it’s hard to get it back. When you have so many tightly timed puzzles, this is not acceptable. When you charge a premium price for a game, this is not acceptable. I love the game, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to fight the controls enough to finish it. Guys, c’mon.

So I originally gave a 1 star review bcuz the game kept crashing; but it turns out that the game kept crashing bcuz my iPhone wasn’t up to date (needed a software update) .. so it wasn’t the developer or the apps mishap .. just finish playing the game up until the part where u have to pay .. and I love every second of it .. dark yet comical themed game; very innovated themes (never seen any came with themes this creative) .. I had a blast and plan on paying the fee for the game when I get the chance .. GREAT GAME

★★★★★ Great game but buggy on iPad Mini 6

This is an atmospheric apocalyptic game with quite clever word puzzles. But I couldn’t get further than Chapter 1 on my iPad Mini 6 (latest iPad Mini). For developer’s attention, I encountered a bug on the “Escape Blockade” puzzle, I think because of the smaller scale of the iPad mini, the game wouldn’t zoom out enough to work properly at the edges of the map. Had to reply Prologue and Chapter 1 on my iPad Air to get through that stage. So, heads up for fellow iPad Mini users, that the game may not work correctly on your tablet, I suspect because of scaling issues.
