Football Manager 2023 Touch is a dangerous game. Not because it’s bad, but because it will make you forget that the outside world exists. It’s the perfect middle ground between the hyper-complex PC version and the overly simplified mobile app. You still get the full tactical suite and the massive database, but the 'admin' side of the game is handled much more quickly.

The 3D engine looks fantastic on the iPad Pro, and the touch controls are surprisingly precise. There is no feeling quite like taking a 3rd-tier team and slowly building them into Champions League winners. On Apple Arcade, having the full experience with no 'energy' or 'pay-to-win' scout packs is refreshing. It’s simply the best sports management game on any mobile platform, period.

Chess is chess. You can't really mess up the mechanics, but you can mess up the app. This one doesn't. It’s clean, the puzzles are actually challenging, and the matchmaking is fair. The 'themed' stuff is a bit much for my taste—I prefer a classic wood board—but it’s a high-quality implementation of the world's best game.
