Wed Aug 25 2021 xTriSarahTopzThis is my favorite Mahjong app… no issues for me, so I was shocked when I hunted this down in the App Store for the sole purpose of giving it 5 stars! Like, what the heck? Either Apple Arcade subscribers are naturally more whiny, or I’m just simple?
My favorite part about this game is going to sound silly, but it is BY FAR the fact that the soothing MUSIC is NEVER INTERRUPTED! I play every night before bed so the fact that I can play level after level (and also return to the menu and select different challenges) without any break in the melody is just an overlooked godsend!
Okay, but ALSO: there’s an option to control the volume of the sounds separately from the music. If you don’t wanna hear your matches (or wanna hear them in the background), you can control the sound slider separately from the song!
I’m really not sure if the developers intended for their Mahjong game to create a flawless meditative environment or not, but with the music and the overall smoothness of the app, it’s 5 stars from me.
In addition to the wonderful audio which many take for granted, there are so many options for boards. You’ve got so many sets of regular boards, tons of premium ones, AND daily challenges (which don’t expire, so you can go conquer the past.
People are gonna be like “wow who paid her for this review?” …but I promise that I’m a rando haha I’m simply a stressed out millennial from Rhode Island with three kids; who has tons of appreciation for the little things that lighten life’s anxious load.
Great job to the Kristiansens behind this peaceful perfection!

I have some gripes, to wit: it's awkward and just not right that choosing a tileset immediately kicks you out of the settings screen as if the settings had crashed. You can set other options and remain on the settings screen, so why not the tileset? I wish there was an option to play classical Chinese music instead of the European-style chamber music that is at present the only option. And I wish getting three stars for a given board didn't depend on time. I don't enjoy rushing – that's something I have to do to get to work in the morning, not something I want to have to do while trying to relax and play a game. (My workaround for this is to content myself with getting two stars, which is usually possible no matter how long I take to finish the board.)
But those gripes aside, it's a very nice game. Beautiful graphics, natural, intuitive gameplay...nice job, devs. 🙏🏻

Trying to think of what moves I should do compared to what I see, and also trying to focus on all the tiles really helped! I’ve almost completed every board (including going back and completing all the previous daily boards), and I think a fun option would be a “random board” button. This way instead of resetting all the boards, you could be taken to a random board to replay. This could also be an option for regular players that just want to play, not necessarily trying to complete each level individually.

It has a nice variety of tiles and background options to keep it interesting- the traditional tiles are available as well as simpler challenges like foods and letters- would make it easier for kids to learn. Plus they have some nice options that make the games go faster if you want, such as highlighting available tiles so you know which ones are free. My only small complaint is that it would be nice to have more music choices- I like the idea of listening to music as I solve, but the tune is repetitive after awhile. *Note that I have only played 20 or so games at this point, so if there are issues with having to pay to get more boards or anything like that, I haven’t seen them yet. I will update my review if I come across anything like that, but otherwise this is just a fun version of Mahjong with some nice bells and whistles to make in interesting. Enjoy!

I looked up a free version in the App Store, but the frequent, seemingly uncloseable advertisements every other round was super frustrating to me - counteracting the added mental clarity I was going for in the first place by playing a pattern recognition game lol. Then I was like”Apple One comes with Apple Arcade, surely they have their own Mahjong game.” And, sure enough, they did and it HAS NO ADS. I cannot overstate how much better playing this type of a game is at achieving a state of calm-mindedness without the annoying, bright, and loud advertisements constantly assailing you. Highly recommended 👍.

Mon Feb 02 2026 anymious raterThis is a really fun mahjong game. It has “some” customization options but that’s not important. What’s important is that it has over 1000 different maps. And daily levels! If you like plain mahjong, This is for you. Only issue is with the daily levels. To get three stars you need to complete the level with no hints, shuffles, and in less than a minute or so depending on length of level. Sometimes, it will give you levels that you have to shuffle. I’ll play the same daily 5 times and be forced to shuffle. I don’t know if it’s my skill level or what, but other than the dailies, this is a fun play for a bit every day kinda game. I encourage people to get this.

Mon Sep 07 2026 PurpleMartinVAThis Majong version sports beautiful tile designs that are a pleasure to play with. No ads a big plus, and a nearly infinite number of boards to play.
The big, needless frustration is that you can't always match all the tiles. Games end abruptly, sometimes with nearly all the tiles still on the board. If you hit "reshuffle" for the remaining tiles, you can't win a middle star. There's also an "undo" function, where you can get some tiles back, in order to try and finish the board. But there are ZERO instructions on how this works, and whether it's still possible to win a star if you use this option. So this incredibly inarticulate, unexplained game winds up being more frustrating than fun, despite the great design.

Wed Jun 16 2021 DAlexander1Well I’m a nutshell, the menu at the top where options etc are located, don’t fit my 12 Pro Max display and there is no landscape mode. It seems like when they created this game they didn’t think it through. Even worse apple let it go through so it’s very clear that there was no quality control from the creator of this game and no quality control from Apple. I think it would be a decent game if they just fix it. At least put an option in the game to play in landscape mode. When you pay a monthly subscription fee you expect the games that you download to at least fit the screen that you’re playing the game on. I definitely don’t recommend this game right now but I may change my mind if the developer fixes it.
