Besiege Mobile is a masterclass in how to port a complex PC sim to touchscreens. As a longtime fan of the original, I was worried about the controls, but the building interface is remarkably intuitive. Scaling and rotating blocks feels natural, and the 'Time Dilatation' feature is a godsend for mobile users trying to watch their beautiful disasters unfold in slow motion.

The physics engine is the real star here. Watching a windmill shatter under the weight of a poorly braced catapult is just as satisfying as successfully razing a fortress. The campaign is well-paced, teaching you the basics of structural integrity before throwing you into scenarios that require genuine engineering creativity. It’s one of the few games on the App Store that treats the player like an adult, allowing for total freedom in how you approach a goal. If you want to build a giant mechanical spider that breathes fire, you can. And you probably should.

Dinsun Review

I’ll admit, I was skeptical about Besiege on a phone. This is a game about intricate parts and physics calculations—things that usually require a mouse and keyboard. But they’ve done a decent job with the UI. The core loop of 'build, fail, iterate, destroy' remains as brain-teasing as ever. It’s a game for people who actually like to think. My only gripe is the screen real estate; on a phone, your fingers get in the way of the complex wiring. It’s a bit fiddly, and my older eyes struggle with the small icons, but the satisfaction of watching a trebuchet actually work is unmatched in the mobile space. It’s a proper simulation, not a toy.
