Monkey Flight 2 is pure, unadulterated casual fun. It’s a sequel that understands exactly what made the first game a hit—simple, physics-based projectile mechanics—and expands on it with more variety and polish. The 'monkey-flinging' gameplay is easy to grasp: you bend a whippy palm tree to launch a laughing monkey into the air, trying to collect as many goodies as possible before you hit the mud. It’s silly, colorful, and perfect for short gaming bursts.
The addition of new environments like Cambodia, Antarctica, and England keeps the visuals fresh, and the 180 levels provide a significant amount of content for a casual title. Donut Games' signature 3-star system is present, which adds a layer of replayability for perfectionists. It’s not a deep game, but it’s a masterclass in the 'one-more-try' loop that makes mobile gaming so addictive. If you’re looking for something lighthearted that the whole family can enjoy, this is a great choice.
Donut Games has a very specific 'look'—clean, colorful, and distinctly mobile. Monkey Flight 2 doesn't stray an inch from that template. You pull back a tree, you launch a monkey, and you hope physics is on your side so you can hit a few fruits before face-planting into the mud. It's the kind of game you play while waiting for a bus, but it offers very little to keep a serious gamer engaged for more than five minutes.
There's no real progression here other than seeing a number go up and collecting three stars on every level. While the new environments add a bit of variety, the core mechanic is exactly the same as the first game. It’s functional, the frame rate is stable, and it’s devoid of the modern monetization 'dark patterns' that plague newer games, which I respect. But frankly, it’s a bit too 'kiddie' and shallow for my taste.
Performance: Runs perfectly on almost any device due to low hardware requirements.
Buy if: You have a nostalgia for early iOS arcade games or need a simple game for a child.
Skip if: You want any form of challenge or modern production values.
