Sunday Lawn Seasons is a delightful follow-up to the original Sunday Lawn. The core gameplay remains as charming and stress-inducing as ever: you control Charlie, a man who just wants a perfectly manicured lawn. The 'Seasons' expansion adds a wonderful layer of variety, taking you from autumn leaves to winter snow and spring blooms.

Each season introduces new mechanics—like snowmen blocking your path or slippery patches—that turn a simple mowing task into a complex spatial puzzle. You have to mow every square of grass without getting trapped or running into obstacles like grumpy dogs or hedgehogs. The 3-star scoring system based on the efficiency of your path adds great replayability. It’s colorful, family-friendly, and surprisingly challenging in the later levels.

Donut Games has a very specific style: simple, bite-sized, and mechanically sound. Sunday Lawn Seasons is a perfect example of that. It’s essentially a 'fill-the-board' puzzle game, similar to the old Snake or TRON light cycles, but with a lawnmower. It’s relaxing, yet it requires actual planning in the later levels.

It’s not flashy, and the graphics are purposely retro-cute. I don't mind that. What I do mind is that it can feel a bit repetitive after 30 levels. Once you understand the movement patterns, the 'Seasons' variations don't change the core experience enough to feel fresh. But for a dollar or two, it’s an honest piece of software. It does one thing well and doesn't try to trick you with in-app purchases.
