Sun Jun 28 2020 InsemzaI definitely didn’t expect this to become one of my favorite mobile games. I initially downloaded it with the idea of killing some time one day and then probably uninstalling it the next. I didn’t have high hopes. And yet, here I am! I’ve completed every daily challenge, am actively involved in events, and play almost every day. If I have a few minutes of down time, an Easy or Medium level is perfect! If I’ve got longer, I’ll tackle a Hard one. I’ve encountered some Hard levels that I could not solve without using some hints or simply guessing, but those sorts of levels are very few and far between. In my opinion, they don’t take away from the overall experience.
I don’t think I’ll be able to play Expert levels on my phone because the screen is too small, the blocks are too tiny, and my fingers are too big—I mean, I misclick in the Hard levels pretty often, so I can’t even imagine how difficult Expert levels would be (maybe include a zoom function..?). And that brings me to the crux of my comment. If I were to get a tablet or iPad and I downloaded this game in my new device, I believe that I’d have to start all over. All my medals, collections, and awards would be wiped because the system would think I’m a new player... right? Is there any way y’all know of where I could share my game data from one device to another? I’d hate to start all over just because my phone broke or because I wanted to play on a different device.
Addicted
Thu Jun 25 2020 🎢🚗✈🇺🇸In the month I’ve had this game, I have played all of the available daily challenges (which go back to April 2019). I’ve fully completed the three events that have been active. These events provide consistent fresh puzzles. The two problems I have with the app are the occasional mistakenly pressed box, which occurs often of the right side of my screen. It will place a box where I did not click. This has only happened about 5 times in the entire time I’ve been playing, but i see other people have commented on it so I figure I’d mention it too. The other problem is the lack of difficulty in the “new game- hard difficulty” games. While they are 15x15, they often require minimal logic, which is different from the puzzles in the dailies and events.
The only two suggestions I have are to perhaps add the ability to zoom in on one part of the board, perhaps a quadrant at a time, to ease the difficulty of accurately placing boxes. The other I have is to increase the reward for completing events. Currently, you get a picture trophy which does nothing. My solution to this, and another suggestion that I’d like to see implemented either way, is to unlock “themes” for the board. This would allow a change of sight from the normal black and white, and can add the option of something as simple as different colors or as complicated as fitting the theme of the event.
Overall, this is a phenomenal app in an environment of decreasingly quality apps.
good but annoying
Mon Oct 23 2023 mad fischerwith puzzle games like nonograms, i like to have some sense of completion or progress, so this game is great bc the months of daily challenges and the tournaments/events give you goals to meet—for this reason i really like this nonogram app on a less positive note—the ‘lives’ feature in this game is one of the most irritating things ever. i wish that it could be turned on or off depending on how you want to play. the squares on the screen are small and esp if you play with one hand, it’s WAY too easy to misclick and you burn through lives which forces you to watch ads. i get it if i actually make an error and i understand it adds challenge, but i wish it was a bit different tbh bc it’s pretty annoying to watch ads over and over when you are at one life and mid clicking keeps forcing you to watch ads to finish the last 3 squares of a puzzle. otherwise decent.
another thing is that when it gives you a puzzle with some Xs already marked, i wish it didn’t allow you to write over them by accident. i feel like they should be locked.
edit: omg thanks for pointing that out devs sorry about that misinfo—can’t wait to play 10 times faster now. i’m winning this tournament 😎
Great Time Waster
Wed Nov 18 2020 JewGuyEliThis app is continually updated and has so much content, it’s hard to say it’s not well worth downloading if you enjoy nonograms. But, there are two main drawbacks to the game:
1) Fat fingering. This is a constant problem if you play the standard mode. I’ve never tried Classic mode, but at least you can swap between the two. This will prevent you from getting blasted with even more ads if you fat finger your way out of lives (and there are already sooo many ads).
2) Graying out numbers too soon. I’ve noticed it actually takes me longer to solve some puzzles because you’ll be working on a column/row and the game will gray out edge values before they’re sealed off with an X. For example, consider a 5x5 grid, your row is 1 1 1. You know the row is gonna look like 1X1X1. When you put down 1X1, the game will gray out the second one in the row hint before you put the X next to it, which makes you have to backtrack and recount where you actually are in the row. The example doesn’t really help highlight the problem because it’s too simple, but for large 20x20 grids (where you’re prone to fat finger like mad), there can end up being quite a bit of backtracking. Nintendo’s Picross would only gray numbers that were “sealed” by an X, if you will, so I wish that method of updating the hints was adopted by this game too.
Otherwise, neither is worth damaging the app, just some feedback! Keep up the great work!
Engrossing, but hard to play on smaller devices
Fri Apr 22 2022 NekoTheSpookThis game is great, and I’ve developed quite an addiction to it. You use logic, process of elimination, and the occasional hint to determine which blocks should be colored in. It does have ads, but they aren’t excessive and you can watch one to get extra lives, which is perfect for me; no coins or gems to worry about. It is difficult to play the expert levels on my phone (iPhone 6SE), because the blocks are much smaller; I’d say 9 out of 10 of my wrong moves come from not quite hitting the right square. It would definitely be worthwhile on a tablet (and this game is actually pushing me to buy one). That’s not really the developer’s fault though, but something you may wish to consider.
If I were to offer the developer any feedback, I would like to see the numbers stand out more in the vertical column. Sometimes you may mistake ‘1 1’ for the number eleven when it’s just two ones. I realize space plays a part in how much spacing is available, but maybe alternating colors? Hyphens?
Anyhow, I truly love playing this, and if you enjoy using logic and don’t need a lot of eye candy or cartoon-y mascots then you will get a lot of miles out of this app.
Great Execution for a Simple Puzzle Game
Thu Feb 03 2022 Every Algebra StudentThis game caught my attention a few months back, and since then I have been playing happily pretty much every day! The general concept of the game is straightforward and easy to pick up, and the wide diversity of levels and regular events give the game a fun and challenging twist. I also love how the design of the game caters to a quick, on-the-go playstyle, while also being just as enjoyable in a more hunkered-down setting where I can easily play for long stretches of time without feeling bored. For those looking to find a fun puzzle game to waste some time, this app is definitely of the best in my eyes.
However, I would definitely strongly suggest a small patch or update to include a dark-mode/night-mode for the app, that can be toggled in the game's settings. Oftentimes I can find myself playing this game at night or in bed before I go to sleep, and the apps default bright color theme gets to be a bit harsh on my eyes. If there was an option to toggle between light and dark mode, my eyes would be a lot happier while the game could still keep its classic Nonogram feel.
Thanks for reading, and hopefully someone finds this review helpful!
Nonogram frustration
Sat Mar 07 2020 Keep the Son in Your EyesAlmost two years ago I was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and underwent brain surgery. Subsequent complications from the first surgery resulted in a second surgery and a long recovery. The nonogram "game" is much like others that I have played in order to help stimulate my brain throughout my recovery. Because of this brain stimulation, I try not to use the word "game." To me this implies that I am "playing" when in fact I am using nonogram as an "exercise" to aid my recovery. However, instead of experiencing brain restoration, nonogram is brain torment! This is because of poor "game" design. The squares on the grid are so small that frequent mistakes are unintentionally made -- not because the wrong boxes are chosen, but instead because an average adult's fingers are often too large to make the intended selections. Also, as the nonogram is currently designed, one cannot make changes as filling the grid progresses, and the first selection that one makes is "locked" into place. This makes completing the grids so frustrating that I feel more relieved by not completing any nonogram grid in the first place. I'll find a much more user friendly app and use it instead.
Fix a change that was made?
Tue Nov 03 2020 13132313Hello, this one’s for the devs. This game is wonderful, it’s very calming and helps put my significant other to sleep each night, when she usually has trouble doing so. But a recent change was made to the game, where if you finished a row/column, it doesn’t automatically “x” the rest of the spots anymore. It was a big part of what made the game so nice, even if it’s a small difference. Would you please put it back? It’d mean a lot, we really miss that ease of life mechanic. It was relaxing, and helps her sleep. Thank you, we hope to see that mechanic back in the game soon :) thank you for making a calming game for before bedtime.
Edit: I realize the mechanic I was talking about was called the “auto crosses feature.” I am aware that it was under testing, and that you made the decision to remove it, but if you could make it an optional setting, that’d be incredibly wonderful. Even if it is buggy, we’d understand, we’d just like it back.
Edit#2: I put in several requests on all of the available platforms that I’ve found asking the developers and team involved with this game to add what I’ve mentioned above about 4 months ago and I’ve received pretty generic responses that felt like automated messages, and no update adding the feature. Please add the feature, I feel it’s not such a difficult thing to do, especially with the amount of time it’s been.
Would be even better with improvements
Mon Jun 03 2019 MmmmmlllkkkkkkjjjGreat game overall, and it’s extremely addicting. My biggest issue I have is that it really takes a toll on my battery and the app by far consumes the most energy out of any app on my phone. I really hope in the next update that the app is better optimized to consume less energy.
Additional feedback I have is that, given that there are no levels to progress in, I wish that I could get a new board on the same difficulty if I don’t like the board that is generated. Currently if I am in the middle of a game on Hard, for example, and I click new game, it gives the same board as I currently was playing, just cleared. There’s no way to go to the “next” board.
Lastly, I wish I could see the final product after I won a game in black and white a little longer before it colorizes so I can “guess” what I just made/see the full picture. Other options that might be cool are to be able to toggle the color image on/off by holding down/releasing the screen to go back and forth between the black and white and color completed puzzle. Additionally it might be cool to have a gallery/collection of all my completed puzzles that you can access from the main menu to see all the different pictures you’ve made.
Thanks for a great game!
Review gone? App bad anyways
Thu Aug 22 2019 chrono_triggerI came to update my review for a second time but apparently it is gone? Guess they can remove reviews they don’t like. So, why do I rate low? Well, one star lost for removing my review.
Another star lost because of the poor response they gave to my original review where I wanted them to make a way to play better. Tired of pushing one block and ending up hitting another. Forcing a life lost and eventually having to watch ads. Their response? To play the other game mode. They lost stars for the way it plays. I love the app minus the fact that issue happens. So, I tried the other mode. I guess it’s okay minus the yet still clicking the wrong box over and over again. Just no lost lives or forced ads since you’re not told you’re wrong.
My solution? I found another app just before this recent update of theirs hit. They didn’t fix my issue so it lest even another star. Now it’s down to one. It would have zero if I could do that. The other app? Two Eyes. It has a directional pad so you can navigate with it instead. Voila! Never a misclick. And with this update on this app? The toggle of filling in the boxes or putting Xs... it was a feature already they just broke it and claim it is new. It was there when I started playing and got use to it so much that I wondered where it went. Wondered why the toggle was never switching anymore causing more errors that were not my fault.
