I don't understand the fascination with running in circles—or in this case, down a straight line forever. Subway Surfers City is technically competent, I’ll give it that. The controls are responsive, and the new visual engine makes the colors pop. But at its core, it’s a game meant to distract you, not engage you. It’s designed for a generation that needs a dopamine hit every five seconds.
The 'City' expansion adds some verticality, but the gameplay loop remains identical to the version I saw a decade ago. It’s safe. It’s profitable. It’s boring. They’ve added more layers of 'seasonal passes' and 'limited-time surfers' to keep you hooked, which feels more like a psychological experiment than a game. If you like the original, you'll like this, but don't expect to be challenged intellectually.
