As a Whovian, I was pleasantly surprised by An Unlikely Heist. Hidden object games can sometimes feel generic, but this one leans heavily into the Doctor Who aesthetic and lore. The writing is snappy and captures the Doctor's energy well, and searching for a 'Cyberman Head' or a 'Jammy Dodger' among the clutter feels very on-brand.
The puzzles are more varied than I expected, with some genuine head-scratchers that go beyond just finding items in a list. The art is beautiful, and being able to explore the TARDIS as a hub world is a nice touch. It’s a polished, cozy mystery that respects the source material. If you like the show, it's a no-brainer. If you don't, it’s still a very high-quality hidden object game.
Dinsun here. This is exactly what I mean when I talk about 'casual trash.' It’s a standard match-3 game—the kind we've seen a thousand times—but they’ve tacked on 'inspirational quotes' as a reward. I’m 40; if I want inspiration, I'll read a book or go for a walk. I don't need Oprah telling me to 'live my best life' because I matched three purple gems. The mechanics are basic, the visuals are corporate-clean, and the whole thing feels like it was designed in a boardroom. Not for me.
Performance: Well-optimized, but very standard for the genre.
Buy if: You love Oprah and want a very easy, positive match-3 game.
Skip if: You want original gameplay or aren't interested in motivational quotes.
