I’ve played enough of these 'hyper-casual' runners to know exactly how this goes. Scaleman is a textbook example of a game built for a 30-second TikTok ad. The core mechanic—changing size—is functional, but it’s binary and boring. There’s no nuance. You're big for the enemies, small for the holes. Repeat until your eyes glaze over.
The art style is that generic, low-poly plastic look that has become the plague of the App Store. It’s devoid of personality. There’s no sense of accomplishment, no clever level design, and the constant barrage of ads makes it feel like the game is just an obstacle between you and more advertising. It’s junk food gaming, and not the good kind.
