Dinsun Review

Donut Games has a very specific formula: simple, polished, and disposable. Action Hero fits this to a T. It’s a competent little platformer that looks like a lost NES game. The controls are responsive enough, but the level design is uninspired. It’s the kind of game that was impressive when the App Store was new, but now it feels like a relic.

There’s no weight to the movement, and the combat is trivial. It’s okay for a five-minute distraction, but it lacks the depth or the hook to make me want to come back. I’ve seen this hero a thousand times before. It’s professional, but it’s completely soul-less. It’s gaming fast-food.

In Action Hero, you take on the role of a stick-man protagonist in a series of high-octane levels. Timing is everything as you leap over obstacles and strike down enemies in your path. With its minimalist art style and smooth animations, the game focuses on pure reflex-based gameplay.
